Description:

Doolittle is the second studio album of the American indie rock band Pixies, released in April 1989 on 4AD Records. The unusual and gloomy content of the record reflected the themes of surrealism, biblical parables, torture and death. The sound of the album contrasted with the raw sound of his predecessor, which was due to the change of producer Steve Albini to Gil Norton. Doolittle was the first Pixies album to receive international destribution, its publishers were companies - Elektra Records and PolyGram, in the US and Canada respectively.

The album reached the 8th place in the UK Albums Chart chart, which was regarded as a great success for the alternative group. In support of the record, two singles were released - "Here Comes Your Man" and "Monkey Gone to Heaven", which also showed good results in the charts. In retrospect, a number of tracks - "Debaser", "Wave of Mutilation", "Monkey Gone to Heaven", "Gouge Away" and "Hey" were highly appreciated by critics, and the album, along with its predecessor, is considered the band's strongest work.

Despite the status of the underground album, Doolittle had good financial performance - in 1995 he received a "gold" certificate in the US. Subsequently, many musicians celebrated him as a source of inspiration for his work, and specialized media regularly included longplay in the lists of the most influential albums of all time. Doolittle took the 2nd place in the rating of the best albums of NME magazine and 226 in the similar list from Rolling Stone.
