Original title: Berlin Philharmonic in Singapore (Berliner Philharmoniker - A Musical Journey in 3D)
Year: 2013
Genre: Classical, Romantic
Cast and Crew: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra; Simon Rattle, conductor

• The 2010 tour by the Berliner Philharmoniker and their Artistic Director Sir Simon Rattle concluded in Singapore, their very first visit there. They presented Mahler’s unique and breathtaking First Symphony, which once briefly enjoyed the title ‘Titan’ in homage to the Romantic novelist Jean Paul. They also performed Rachmaninov’s late Symphonic Dances, highly evocative pieces that originally bore the titles ‘Noon’, ‘Twilight’, and ‘Midnight’, and which were conceived as ballet numbers. In this concert, the Berliner Philharmoniker beautifully captures Mahler’s love of nature and Rachmaninov’s nostalgic memories of the old Russia he had left behind. Recorded live at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Singapore, 22 & 23 November 2010.
